Job Description

Director, Strategy And Insights, Paramount Pictures

43879 Los Angeles, CA, US, 90038 Research Los Angeles Full-Time On-Site

We're on a mission to unleash the power of content… you in? We've got the brands, we've got the stars, we've got the power to achieve our mission to entertain the planet – now all we're missing is… YOU! Becoming a part of Paramount means joining a team of passionate people who not only recognize the power of content but also enjoy a touch of fun and uniqueness. Together, we co-create moments that matter – both for our audiences and our employees – and aim to leave a positive mark on culture.

Overview: If you're excited by the idea of influencing how some of the world's biggest movies are created and launched, then look no further. We're hiring a Director of Strategy and Insights to join us at Paramount Pictures! At Paramount, our Strategy and Insights team sits at the intersection of consumer insights and creative strategy, shaping how upcoming releases are made, marketed, and distributed. This role offers rare exposure to the entire film slate, from original titles to iconic franchises like Mission: Impossible, Transformers, Sonic the Hedgehog, and A Quiet Place. Within the studio, this team serves as the voice of the audience, understanding how moviegoers feel about our films and brands and translating those perspectives into strategies that help us tell stories that connect authentically.

This role requires someone who can balance analytical rigor with creative intuition, and who can build genuine trust and influence with creative and marketing leaders — not just deliver findings to them. As Director, you'll help drive how insights guide strategy for all Paramount Motion Picture releases and play a key role in designing and implementing the research that shapes creative direction. You'll report to the Senior Vice President of Global Strategy and Insights and work closely with teams across the studio.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive research findings into actionable strategies that guide Paramount's full slate of releases
  • Lead the division in developing qualitative and quantitative research to tackle key questions and challenges
  • Manage research planning and delivery, including vendor management, questionnaire development, and reporting
  • Design clear, dynamic visual documents that communicate research findings and data effectively
  • Present research insights regularly at marketing strategy and management meetings, acting as a trusted, consultative partner to creative and marketing leadership
  • Actively supply ideas and feedback in meetings, presentations, and brainstorming sessions
  • Assess each motion picture's target audience, opportunities, and challenges
  • Monitor research trends and guidelines to implement innovative approaches across the studio, including evaluating competitive campaigns, expanding statistical analysis, and advancing AI use in research

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 8+ years in marketing, content, or audience research
  • MBA or comparable advanced degree in social sciences, business, statistics, marketing, or a related field preferred, but not required where seniority and impact are clearly established
  • Entertainment or related market research experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex research into a clear point of view for non-research stakeholders, and to build trust and influence with senior creative and marketing leaders
  • Excellent communication, presentation, professional writing, and problem-solving skills
  • Shown project management and organizational skills

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with data visualization tools and software
  • Strong knowledge of movies and a passion for entertainment

Paramount Pictures works with talented filmmakers to produce and distribute entertainment around the world. The film studio's iconic logo has opened some of the most successful and beloved films in cinematic history, including timeless classics such as The Godfather, Chinatown, Forrest Gump and Titanic; and blockbuster franchises such as Star Trek, Transformers, Mission: Impossible and Sonic the Hedgehog. Recent, innovative, break-out films such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Arrival, Rocketman, and A Quiet Place have added to Paramount's film legacy.

Paramount Pictures is a subsidiary of Paramount, which connects with billions of people worldwide through its global brands including MTV, CBS, Paramount Network, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET and streaming service Paramount+.

Hiring Salary Range: $120,000.00 - 150,000. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.

Attractive compensation and comprehensive benefits packages. Generous paid time off. An exciting and fulfilling opportunity to be part of one of Paramount's most dynamic teams. Opportunities for both on-site and virtual engagement events. Unique opportunities to make meaningful connections and build a vibrant community, both inside and outside the workplace.
